What Dads say after the birth:
"When my wife told me she didn’t want to carry on (during labour) I remembered what Sheila had said and was able to tell her that our baby was nearly here. That gave her the energy and momentum she needed to carry on and 15 minutes later our little girl was born."
Alec - Kidderminster
"My wife had such a dreadful birth first time around I was very sceptical about the course. But then our daughter was born at home, the midwife sat quietly and watched as I helped my wife birth our baby. I was on cloud nine. I still can’t believe it."
Dave - Birmingham
"My wife had been so anxious when she first became pregnant I was really worried about the birth. She had a fear of doctors, hospitals, injections in fact most things medical. The GentleBirth course helped us so much and she gave birth in hospital, totally relaxed and with a smile on her face. She enjoyed it so much that 3 weeks after the birth she was planning the next baby."
Steven - Dudley
And what the mums say:
"The course helped me to make choices about my labour. I wanted minimum interference and the relaxation enabled me to make these decisions when the time came. Without that I would have ended up with an epidural and probably a much longer labour."
Shari - Solihull
"The midwife who came to assist my delivery said it was the calmest birth she had ever seen."
Jan - Stourbridge
"Thanks for all your support. People are always amazed when I tell them I had no pain killers."
Maria - Gloucester
"The whole birth was relaxing and enjoyable. I felt HypnoBirthing was fab and would recommend it to all."
Aaliya - Birmingham
"I had what I would describe as an easy and very quick labour. I have been raving to everyone about the birth."
Amy - Kidderminster
"The midwives did not believe I was in established labour because of how calm and quiet I was. One midwife commented that even though my baby was a posterior presentation I was the quietest birth she had ever attended. I do think the HypnoBirthing helped me to breath and keep my focus right to the end – and the midwives commented on how focussed I was throughout."
Helen - Redditch
HypnoBirthing made my second labour so different
The contractions were about 5 minutes apart, and as I felt them I focused on breathing techniques Sheila had taught me. I reminded myself of what my body was trying to do and how clever it was.
Tom got into the pool with me and gently massaged my back. I got restless and wanted to get out of the pool. I also felt a bit sick which Tom recognised as the transition phase. Then he said he could see the baby coming and I had the urge to push, so I went with it. After three big pushes Tom caught baby Tabitha and passed her to me. It was amazing.
Tom and I sat in the pool hugging Tabitha, as we waited for the cord to stop pulsating we reflected on this wonderful experience
Philippa’s thoughts on pain during childbirth
“I listened to my HypnoBirthing CD over the months, and it instilled in me the fact that birth was a ‘natural’ process and not one of pain. When Tabitha was born, she appeared to be relaxed and was keen to feed almost immediately. I think that was due to a calm birth”
