Frequently Asked Questions

Is HypnoBirthing suitable for me?
HypnoBirthing™ is suitable for any pregnant woman who would like a birth with the minimal amount of medical intervention. If you are quite happy to have all the drugs on offer and hand your control and birth over to medical staff then this is
not for you

The course is suitable for any mum-to-be;

  • First time mums and dads
  • Those who are anxious or lack confidence
  • Home births or hospital births
  • Water births
  • Vaginal births after caesareans
  • Previous traumatic births
  • Or for those who would like a normal birth but aren’t quite sure how

If you would like to remain in control during the birth and have the opportunity to have a relaxed safe and enjoyable birth then book on a course now.

When is the best time to start the course?
Between 25 and 35 weeks is probably the optimum time, but really any time after 16 weeks. Some mums-to-be have not discovered HypnoBirthing™ until 38 weeks pregnant and have still managed to utilise the techniques, however this is only as a last resort as it is much more effective if you start the course earlier.

I am anxious about giving birth can this help me?
Definitely, hypnotherapy works well with anxieties. HypnoBirthing™ combines an understanding of how your body works, simple relaxation and breathing techniques and hypnotherapy techniques to remove fears and help you look forward to the birth of your baby.

Is it worth the money when I can give birth on the NHS for nothing?
You only get one opportunity to give birth to a baby. Would you go out on an important date without preparing for it first? Choosing the right clothes, hair, makeup and where you are going to go. Isn’t it worth a bit of preparation to give your baby the best start in life?
Experts believe that babies who have a relaxed stress free birth are more contented, breast feed more easily and sleep better.

What is it worth to you to give your baby the safest and most comfortable start to their life?

Does my partner have to come with me?
Your partner has a vital role to play in the birth of their baby, as you will find out over the course. If they really can’t make it then it is helpful for whoever is going to be at the birth to come on the course with you. That can be a family member, close relation or a good friend.

Does the course replace antenatal classes?
No. The course is designed to complement any medical care you receive. It is not intended to replace it. However if antenatal services in your area have been cut then the GentleBirth course is an excellent alternative. It is a stand alone course which will tell you everything you need to know to have an easier, more comfortable and safe birth for you and your baby.
